If you are looking for different sports options for your GCSE PE group, we might have just the answer. We can offer you a range of different courses in Archery, Canoeing and Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Hill Walking and Campcraft, Orienteering and Sailing to suit the requirements of exams boards including OCR and Edexcel. We can tailor your programme with us to ensure that you get the maximum benefit out of your stay.

GCSE Geography

We are in an ideal location, situated on the edge of the Peak District – the first National Park in the UK – and near to the major North Staffordshire conurbation, rich in industrial history and heritage, to use as a base for a range of geography studies.

The Peak District is a rich resource with its mines, quarries, caves, glacial formations, preserved towns and conurbations, river sources and rock formations and lends itself perfectly to an in depth study suitable for GCSE and A Level Geography. Also, with over 20 million visits to the Peak District every year, tourism and its effects can be studied in depth.

GCSE History

Evidence of farming in the Peak District dates as far back as Neolithic times around 4000BC. About 46% of the park is still farmed today. Much of the land provides evidence of a range of farming techniques throughout the last millennium.

Much evidence also exists of mining, quarrying and other industrial use of the land with mining in the Park dating back to Roman times although reaching its peak in the nineteenth century. Let us take you on an educational tour of the Staffordshire Moorlands and the Peak District identifying areas and sites rich in historical value.

Revision Weeks and Weekends

A number of high schools have been taking advantage of our facilities in recent years to take selected pupils out of the school environment to focus on single and multi-subject revision. Our centre provides the perfect setting for revising whether it’s two days or a full week. Our facilities lend themselves well to additional evening sessions and we can also offer the occasional activity as a reward and maybe to let off a bit of steam.

Other Courses

If you are looking to deliver other courses not mentioned above, that you think we can assist you with, please get in touch and we will be happy to look at developing a programme to suit your requirements.
